Seeing the Northern Lights is one of those things that shows up on nearly everyone’s bucket list, including my own.
This is one of the best places in the world to do it - 250km north of the Arctic Circle from the warmth of a glass igloo!
Igloo Village Kakslauttanen is located in Saariselka, Finland near the Urho Kekkonen National Park. The igloo village is only open in the winter from December to April, but the resort also has traditional Lapland log cabins open year-round.
The glass igloos are built with a special thermal glass so you stay warm and toasty inside, and so the glass doesn’t fog up and block your perfect view of the Northern Lights from your bed.
There is also a snow igloo you can stay in (if you’re willing to brave -3°C to -6°C temperature… with sleeping bags, woolen socks, and hoods, of course), a snow restaurant, and a snow chapel.

FYI: Northern Lights (aka Aurora Borealis) are usually visible between late August and late April.
